Yay for Independence Day!
My Fourth of July was a lot of fun this year. The night before, Mac, KT, Miriam, Hannah, and I decided to paint our nails...patriotic style. It was a lot of fun to get together with these girls, we had some good laughs.
The next day, Mir and I woke up at 5:00 AM to go to the balloon festival. Yeah...that happened. The PA I shadowed for last semester helps put it on every year...yes, I flat out laughed when I found out he was a hot air balloon pilot. Turns out it's a pretty intense group of people. Also, some of my friends and cousins were going to be there, so I figured it'd be fun! It was actually a really cool thing! There were balloons and pilots from all over the country.
After that, Mir and I went home and slept...:) Later that night, Hannah, Matt, and I headed up north to help carry on one of my favorite neighborhood traditions: games and fireworks at the park. We've been doing this for years and I absolutely love it. With my dad and brothers there we, naturally, had to play some soccer. My favorite part was the 5-year old boy that came up and wanted to play with us. He kept saying "Don't go easy on me!" and "Do you want to see my trick?" So cute. We also had to play "missionary tag", which we do every year.
Yes, that's me on the ground...a normal occurrence. Also, I forgot to take my camera off of manual focus before my mom started taking pictures with it...hahaha sorry.
As it got dark, Bonnie broke out the glow sticks like she does every year and we settled back and watched the fireworks!
As always, we had a blast! No one got hurt and no one lost a key...so I would say it was a success. I really am so grateful for this country and the freedoms we enjoy. I'm also so grateful for the people in my life. I am a lucky girl!
